The Shelbyville Central Schools board approved a slate of routine business and budget-related items, including a $2,816,218.93 Bond 2024 claim and a one-time supplemental homestead-credit reallocation of $263,680 to the operations fund.
Finance director Micas reported that all funds and bank accounts were balanced for June 2026 and noted year-to-date expenditures of 46% of the education fund and 55% of the operations fund; he said the operations cash balance increase reflected a property tax settlement deposit. "All the funds and banks are balanced for June 2026," Micas said.
Key board actions included: - Adoption of the meeting agenda and routine consent items (minutes, accounts payable and payroll claims). - Approval to give district leadership authority to begin formal collective bargaining this fall; the bargaining window was noted as Sept. 15–Nov. 15. - Authorization for district administration to hire personnel before formal board approval when necessary, with hires to be reported at the next meeting. - Approval of a one-time supplemental homestead-credit reallocation under HEA 1210 moving $263,680 (plus $0.55) from debt service to operations to assist cash flow. - Approval of Bond 2024 claims totaling $2,816,218.93. - Acceptance of an anonymous $1,100 donation to Shelbyville High School cheer shirts; the board recorded one abstention and discussed whether the administration could provide donor names confidentially in executive session to inform trustees. - Approval of operational items including an overnight field trip (Simon Youth Academy), the EdFlex waiver for hiring instructional assistants, the certified teachers’ evaluation plan (no changes), correction of the extra-milk price to $0.60 for 2026–27, and adoption of the 2027 budget calendar.
Board members discussed a line in updated CCHA policy language encouraging walking and bicycling to school (policy 8275) and asked administration to confirm whether that language appears in the district’s online wellness plan. The motion to approve the CCHA policy updates passed after that clarification was noted.
All motions in the meeting were carried by voice vote unless otherwise noted; the anonymous donation acceptance recorded one abstention.
