FREMONT, Neb. — The Fremont Public Schools Board of Education opened a public hearing July 13 on an LB243 additional property tax request and recorded no public comment, then unanimously approved routine business and adjourned.
The hearing was opened to consider raising the district's base growth percentage by up to five percent under LB243. District presenter Chris Loofe described the request; the board invited taxpayers to speak and no members of the public offered comment.
The board previously approved the meeting agenda and confirmed that advance-notice requirements had been met; a copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted in the board room, the board noted. In a single motion the board then approved the Consent Section as presented. Terry Sorensen moved to approve the consent section, Pam Murphy seconded, and the motion passed 5–0 (Todd Hansen, Jon Ludvigsen, Pam Murphy, Sandi Proskovec and Terry Sorensen voting yea).
During the hearing sequence, the board formally opened the LB243 hearing on a motion by Terry Sorensen with a second from Sandi Proskovec; that motion passed 5–0. After receiving no public comment, Pam Murphy moved to close the hearing; Jon Ludvigsen seconded and the motion carried 5–0.
The meeting concluded when Sandi Proskovec moved to adjourn, seconded by Terry Sorensen; the board adjourned at 6:36 p.m. with a unanimous vote.
