The Wallington Planning Board on June 16 unanimously approved a site plan waiver for LB Beauty Studio Corp., clearing the way for a hair and nail salon at 73 Wallington Ave.
Pamela Mieses, the business owner, testified through a Spanish interpreter that the salon would employ three people (including the owner), operate two hair stations and one nail station, and use two designated parking spaces in the existing lot. Property owner Oren Abuhasira confirmed those parking arrangements and said the prior tenant operated a similar beauty and permanent-makeup business under the same setup. The applicant stated the business would place ordinary waste at the curb and would not generate hazardous materials; the existence of a Knox box at the property was also confirmed.
Board member Nick Melfi advised the applicant to contact the Building Department to obtain a required sign permit before installing any signage and to coordinate with the Building Department regarding the certificate of occupancy. The board opened the matter to the public but no members of the public spoke.
Councilman Eugeniusiusz Rachelski moved to approve the site plan waiver application; Tomasz Bazel seconded. Roll call votes were recorded in favor by Tomasz Bazel, Paul Szwaczka, Stanley Baginski, Eugeniusiusz Rachelski, Nick Melfi and James Furtak; there were no nays or abstentions.
Following the approval, board attorney Richard J. Allen Jr. presented a memorialization resolution for the matter. The board voted to accept the resolution, and then voted to appoint Paul Szwaczka as acting secretary for the purpose of signing the memorialization resolution. The meeting adjourned at 7:48 p.m.
The board noted applicants must secure any required local permits (sign permit and certificate of occupancy) from the Building Department before installing signage or commencing operations.
