He'll just have more capability with the ordinance and intact to enforce," the staff member said, describing how existing inspection efforts would be formalized under the new code.
Council and residents discussed enforcement logistics in public comment, including whether the village will proactively inspect properties or rely on complaints. The staff member said inspections have mostly been handled through conversation and requests so far, and that the ordinance will give the inspector more authority to enforce compliance.
The meeting also raised nuisance follow‑up at specific properties. The staff member said trash and rubbish removals have been done at a condemned house on Linwood and that the village can attach costs as a lien if municipal abatement (for example, extermination or mowing) is performed.
