George Little appointed to Lower Paxton Township Board to fill vacancy

The Lower Paxton Township Board of Supervisors appointed George Little to fill a vacant supervisor seat during its July 21, 2026 business meeting.

After the board interviewed four finalists earlier in the day, the board took nominations in alphabetical order. No motion was made for Majdi Ali. A motion to appoint George Little received a second; the board then recorded a roll-call vote that produced at least three affirmative votes and confirmed Little’s appointment. The board said Little should be ready to begin duties on Aug. 3 and that swearing-in procedures would be arranged with the township solicitor or a notary.

The appointment followed several hours of public comment that included calls for transparency and for the board to select the most qualified resident "no matter party affiliation," according to resident Anthony Cristillo. Some speakers had criticized earlier comments by a supervisor about voting based on party. Resident Alan McCormick told the board it should "examine your own conscience" about how past conduct contributed to a hostile public climate.

Board members said they evaluated candidates on experience and knowledge of township government. Supervisor Schaub, who spoke in support of Little during the motion, said Little "brought forth quite a robust experience in administration" and noted his knowledge of budgets and regional collaboration. The chair said the appointment followed the public, scored interview process the board established and that an orientation would follow.

Next steps: George Little is expected to be sworn in on Aug. 3 and will take the seat pending completion of the oath. The board did not indicate additional substantive actions tied directly to the appointment at the July 21 meeting.
