Sarah (staff) provided marketing and operations highlights to the Jefferson County Board of Tourism, citing visitor data, recent earned-media coverage and an upcoming national media visit.
Sarah said the regatta generated about 41,600 visits to the riverfront over four days and approximately 11,200 unique visitors; she noted hotel occupancy remained steady for the weekend and that many unique visitors traveled from more than 30 miles away. "He had over 41,600 visits on the riverfront over the course of 4 days," she said while reporting visitor-data summaries; she added the office is refining numbers and will circulate a fuller written report.
On earned media and marketing, Sarah said the town was named by Travel + Leisure among the "top 10 most charming main streets," and she flagged an online National Geographic piece and other earned placements. She described a CRM rollout that allows tourism partners to claim listings and update events directly and said the office is finalizing vendor proposals for video and other marketing assets for Chautauqua.
Sarah also said the office expects to host a national media "fan tour" this weekend — a multi-day press visit arranged via Visit Indiana and contracted PR — and that staff are coordinating itineraries, lodging and welcome events.
Administrative items and deadlines: the board discussed the upcoming grama (grant) cycle. Jim announced that applications are due by 5 p.m. on August 3 and asked organizations needing the corrected Google Form link to email bartlett7474@gmail.com; completed applications should be sent to Elizabeth Manning at elizmanning70@gmail.com for processing. Board members discussed Google Form account ownership and agreed staff will reconcile the form's Gmail attachment to ensure applicants can submit.
What happens next: Sarah will circulate a fuller written report and data packet; staff will coordinate the media visit and provide post-visit metrics. Applicants for the August grant cycle must request the corrected link and submit by the August 3 deadline.
