Town Review Board plans topical overhaul of Ordinance 2012-01, schedules May workshop

The Town Review Board agreed April 11 to review and revise Ordinance 2012-01 using a topical process, proposed to focus first on zoning classifications, vocabulary/definitions and site-plan documentation, and set a workshop for May 6 and a meeting for May 9 to continue the work.
At its April 11, 2025 meeting the Town Review Board agreed to a topical review process for Ordinance 2012-01 and proposed a set of priority topics for initial consideration.
The board listed possible focus areas that include combining zoning classifications R1 and R1A and reviewing R2; simplifying the vocabulary and definitions section; and revising site-plan documentation requirements. Additional topics proposed for review included the site-plan review process, including front-office procedures, and producing a TRB/Building Department brochure for residents.
The board proposed a TRB workshop on May 6 at 6:00 p.m. and a TRB meeting on May 9 at 6:30 p.m. to advance the ordinance review. The board also recorded several action items: develop a TRB procedures manual (not yet initiated), William (B.) Betts will research local codes pertaining to sheds (priority upgraded), and the board will define a "Legacy tree."
Procedural business at the meeting included approval of the March 21, 2025 minutes by motion of Karen Hoffken, seconded by Peter Frontiero; the motion passed with all voting members present voting yes.
The board adjourned at 7:50 p.m. The topical review process is expected to continue at the scheduled workshop and meeting in May, where the board will rank topics by importance and begin focused revisions to Ordinance 2012-01.
