Students say Indian Hill 'Experienceships' are opening internships and leadership pathways

Students and program staff used the board meeting to highlight the district’s Experienceships and Entrepreneurship Center, describing internships, job shadows and student-led initiatives that administrators say are preparing students for careers.
"Experienceships is more than just a program. It gives us real-world exposure, professional skills and access to opportunities that many students don't experience in college, let alone high school," said Charlotte Picton, a junior who described job shadows at firms including MSA Design and a marketing internship arranged through the Indian Hill Foundation.
Senior Caroline Ranala told trustees that internships with nonprofits such as 1in5 and leadership roles in DECA and student government helped her develop marketing and leadership skills she plans to use in college and beyond. Jane Holbrook and Jaya, other students on the leadership team, outlined how the program supports site visits, career connections and student committees that tackle real problems, from bell schedules to mentorship programs.
Program staff said the high-school cohort is the largest in the program’s history, with 170 students actively enrolled. Staff also highlighted upcoming events: global week in partnership with the district parent group and the next round of internship recruitment in February.
Administrators said the program is a strategic focus for the district, tying experiential learning and leadership development to career pathways and internship placements. Trustees praised the students’ presentations and encouraged continued outreach to get younger students involved.
