Residents urge improved maintenance of Pleasanton parks and lakes

Several Pleasanton residents used the public‑comment period on June 15 to press the council for more consistent park and lake maintenance and to cite specific safety and appearance problems.
James Belts (20746 E. 1100 Rd.) told the council he and other community members were mowing city parks themselves because of poor upkeep, urged more regular maintenance of ditches, culverts and entrances, and flagged “unfishable” shoreline conditions at West Lake and East Lake. Belts referenced city code sections 1205 and 1207 and said residents expect elected officials “to represent constituents year‑round.”
Greg Stogsdale (601 E. 6th St.) noted improvements at the lakes but pointed to narrow walking paths at Stegy Lake, unmowed areas near benches and bridges, and a separated dock ramp at East Lake he called a safety hazard. Stogsdale suggested a low‑cost bentonite/sawdust remediation for a Stegy Lake dam issue.
Councilmembers acknowledged the comments and discussed that regulations and signage for lakes are under consideration; staff was asked to research what postings or regulations are required and to bring that information back to council.
