Chief Wisdom told the council that the department reviewed quotes from Dräger and Scott and that repairs were necessary to maintain safe response capacity. "We are down to three functioning units," the chief reported to council members during the department update.
Kenny Stark moved to approve the expenditure, and Rochelle Schreckhise seconded. The council amended the motion to authorize the amount "not company specific but up to that amount from the best resource," and the full motion passed unanimously 4-0.
Council also directed the chief to gather cost information for a gear washing machine and authorized him to begin looking for a multi-person response SUV or pickup, with preference expressed for a donated vehicle if available. Members noted staffing shortages were affecting project timelines; a local candidate, Josh, was scheduled to take certification tests July 23-24.
The council's action funds immediate equipment replacement but did not name a vendor; Chief Wisdom will return with procurement details and recommended vendor information at a later meeting.
