Selectmen approve memorandum of agreement with DPW union after executive session

Chair Dave Haviland moved to approve the MOA; Robin said it appeared to be a "very fair contract" and thanked DPW representatives and negotiators. The motion was seconded and the board recorded unanimous ayes.
The board moved into executive session under Massachusetts General Laws chapter 30A, section 21(a) to discuss collective bargaining strategy with the Dover Police Association and Public Employees Local 1116 and to consider threatened litigation related to the community center project. Members said an executive session discussion could be detrimental to the town’s negotiating position if held in public.
After the closed-door discussion, the board approved the MOA and concluded the meeting. Officials said appropriate implementation steps will follow through DPW and town staff.
