Committee seeks land records review on jurisdictional transfer requests; highway projects updated

Oneida County Public Works Committee members discussed jurisdictional transfer requests for Willow Road in the Town of Lynne and Pine Lake Road and Squirrel Lake Road in the Town of Minocqua on July 9, agreeing to seek a Land Records Committee review before forwarding anything to the County Board.

Bob Almekinder said he had not yet heard from Land Information and would check on Monday. Billy Fried said the committee’s path was to gather information before forwarding the requests to the County Board and suggested the matter might belong before Land Records; Chair Ted Cushing said he would request Land Records add it to their agenda.

On project updates, Highway Commissioner Ben Rich reported CTH E work was wrapping up (pavement complete, shoulder work remaining), CTH K was nearly complete and would be striped by Lincoln County, and the CTH N project was scheduled to begin July 20. The crew had started crack sealing on CTH C, and mowing on the state system should finish by the end of the week before the county mowing began. Rich said DOT approved brushing of small pines along STH 47 and the Bureau of Structures requested an estimate for concrete to address load displacement over a failing culvert on STH 70; the department continues to pursue funding for STH 70. Lincoln County will restripe specialty markings at intersections of CTH J/USH 51 and STH 47; the State will not fund those paint markings.

Rich also said the DOT directed the county to address only true safety-issue complaints on the state system; Fried noted the Town of Minocqua is discussing a lower posted speed on STH 70 and Rich said the county planned to address complaints on CTH C in the Town of Stella.
