Phillipsburg council backs Kansas Main Street renewal, approves minutes and bills

The Phillipsburg City Council on July 6 unanimously approved a resolution supporting the local Kansas Main Street Program’s certification and 501(c)(3) renewal and adopted routine minutes and an appropriation ordinance, Mayor Lance Munyon presiding.

Tami Sauer asked the council for a resolution supporting the Kansas Main Street Program certification and the nonprofit renewal. Councilmember Terry McConnell moved to approve Resolution #361; Kenneth Craig seconded the motion and the council recorded the vote as unanimous (Voting Aye: ALL).

The council then approved the June 15, 2026 minutes and the June 25, 2026 special minutes after motions by McConnell and the appropriate seconds, and approved Appropriation Ordinance 1055-06-26B to pay the city’s bills. Each of those motions was recorded as passed unanimously.

Councilmembers used the consent portion of the meeting to raise routine maintenance and public-works concerns. Don Roberts thanked crews for filling potholes near his house. Terry McConnell reported tall weeds at 898 H Street and noted a leak in the new firehouse roof; Roofmasters had been contacted about the leak. Lauren Weinert said heavy equipment had been unloaded on freshly laid asphalt in the Jansonius addition and that, because of the heat, it caused minor surface damage; McConnell later said equipment had also run over and cracked a curb.

Caleb Breon and Dakota Coomes were noted as arriving during the early part of the meeting. The council recorded no dissent on the consent agenda items. The full video of the meeting is available on the city website.
