Superintendent Michael updated the board on personnel and operational preparations for the coming school year. He said the district has hired Mike Blitt as technology director to replace Scott Gruden and that Gruden will contract to support a smooth transition.
Michael told the board that elementary class lists will be released in early August, after the administration resolved a data flow issue that had pushed teacher information into a parent app. "We didn't realize that it was pulling teacher information from Infinite Campus to Blackboard," he said, explaining the district turned off the feed and will publish official class lists closer to the start of school.
Bus routes are slated to be posted in the second week of August; Michael said administrators are working to make student routing more consistent so students ride the same bus in the morning and afternoon when feasible. He also credited buildings & grounds and technology staff for summer upgrades and thanked staff who hosted the Iowa Association of Buildings and Grounds conference at the middle school.
Michael said the technology department budget includes Apple devices to better support music production for vocal and instrumental teachers. The district will continue to post updates to its website and Infinite Campus, he added.
