Board approves furniture and construction contracts for Midland Flex Learning Center; consent agenda and financials accepted

The Midland Public Schools Board approved several finance and procurement actions Monday night, including purchases for the new Midland Flex Learning Center and routine consent‑agenda items.

Administration recommended a purchase order to Duall of Holland, Michigan, for $99,845.29 to supply furniture for the Flex Learning Center; operating funds will be used for the purchase. The board also approved issuing a purchase order to 3 Verse Construction of Midland for $419,690 to complete facilities work needed to convert the space into an educational facility; capital improvement funds will be used. Bids were solicited and procurement followed consortium and state procurement channels per staff comments.

At the meeting the consent agenda (items 2.1–2.6) passed by voice vote; that package included approval of minutes, personnel actions (recommended hires and resignations), adoption of school code articles related to schools of choice, and the recommendation to pay the district’s bills for the month in the amount of $13,080,085. The board also acknowledged gifts totaling $4,765.41 supporting athletics and arts programs across district high schools and middle schools.
