Cabot's City Council unanimously adopted Ordinance 25 of 2026 to approve a private-club application for a business at 12406 Highway 5 and approved an emergency clause to allow the applicant to proceed promptly with Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) application.
During the council session the applicant (Jeff) confirmed a target opening in the first week of August and answered brief questions from council. Police & Fire committee and municipal service committee discussion earlier characterized the item as a transfer of an established license previously held at the location (Tall Paul's) and repeatedly described the matter as a routine transfer rather than a brand-new outlet.
Council voted to waive the 2nd and 3rd readings and then adopted the ordinance; councilors also adopted the emergency clause, with the mayor noting financial interest and the need to allow the applicant to apply to the ABC commission. "It means your legislation just wouldn't affect. You don't have to wait 30 days," the mayor explained after the emergency motion was adopted.
The ordinance approval allows the applicant to submit required ABC paperwork and proceed with any remaining local steps; it does not remove state ABC review or approval responsibilities.
