Wingate board moves forward with park master plan proposing pickleball courts, splash pad and phased grants

Kimley-Horn consultant Corbin Clemmons told the Board that his team was engaged by Lawrence Associates to prepare a first high-level master plan for Wingate Park and that the plan builds on existing park assets. The presentation described converting the old baseball field to six pickleball courts, adding a splash pad, possibly a nine-hole disc golf course on the north side of the site, additional shelters, restrooms and phased construction to support grant applications.
Clemmons said the presentation was an initial pass and that cost assessments were not yet available; the board agreed to move forward with the plan so staff could begin applying for grants to fund implementation phases.
Commissioners discussed the possibility that future population growth might require baseball or Little League fields; the consultant said he could address that need in later design work. The Park Improvement Plan was entered into the record as Exhibit E.
