The Moore Haven City Council on July 21 approved Resolution No. 2025-09, completing a TEFRA hearing that clears the way for tax-exempt financing of Imagine School at North Port. Whitney told the council the TEFRA was being repeated “in the greater principal amount that was approved at a previous meeting,” and otherwise the terms remain the same.
Singleton said the project’s financing amount had "increased from $60 million to $ 78 million due to the increase of construction cost." City attorney Steve Ramunni read Resolution No. 2025-09 during the hearing and asked whether any public input had been received; Singleton said none had been submitted.
Council member RaShonda Croskey moved to approve Resolution No. 2025-09; Bradley Smith seconded the motion, which the council recorded as carried. The record shows no public commenters at the TEFRA hearing.
TEFRA (Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act) hearings are a required public-process step when certain tax-exempt bonds are used to finance projects benefitting private organizations; the resolution approved the procedural TEFRA requirement for Imagine School at North Port and the larger principal amount cited by city staff. The council did not record further conditions or amendments to the resolution at the meeting.
