Wingate board waives petition requirements to pursue speed humps in Glens I after resident complaints

Town Manager Christina Amos told the board the town has an eight-criteria policy for speed-hump petitions and said staff would proceed with an engineering review if the board waived petition requirements. Commissioner Greg Doyle moved to waive the petition requirements and authorize Manager Amos to work with the town engineer to pursue installation if criteria #3-6 are satisfied. Commissioner John Mangum seconded the motion, which the board approved unanimously.
Board members and staff noted previous steps taken, including adding speed-limit signs and discussions with the developer, True Homes, about construction traffic. Residents were advised to continue reporting traffic incidents to the Union County Sheriff's Office.
Next steps: Manager Amos will pursue the engineer review under the town policy and report back to the board; installation will proceed only if the engineering criteria are met.
