Upper Merion Library schedules 'stuffie' sleepover, Black History Month events; hiring continues

At its Feb. 9 meeting the Upper Merion Library Board reviewed children’s and outreach programming and staffing updates. The board reported a 'stuffie' sleepover planned for Feb. 11 that will involve middle school volunteers, and said middle school 'Meet-ups' occur weekly on Thursday afternoons.
The Community, Outreach & Technology Coordinator reported that the Friends of Black History have planned a month of activities that will include a musical kick-off and a STEM-related activity. The minutes also note that high school students will participate in a 'Snacks Around the World' program.
On library resources, staff reported the first Ingram order has been submitted and materials have begun arriving more quickly after a wider shift among institutions away from Amazon. On staffing, the minutes state that Laura Arnhold and Simone are interviewing candidates to fill the last open position on the Library Services Team.
The board additionally noted the library will be closed Feb. 16 for staff development, which will include Department Head reports and shelf reading. No public commenters spoke during the meeting.
