City staff presented a proposal to install artificial turf in three landscape islands at the Recreation & Aquatic Center. The proposed work (field turf max play) will be installed by EZ Turf, a subsidiary of Coastal Synthetic Turf, at a total cost of $47,966.20; staff said Coastal Synthetic is the sole authorized installer and distributor for Pasco County for the selected product.
Council members welcomed the improvements and noted the project is included in the city's 24-25 capital improvement budget. The project scope includes vegetation removal, removal of wooden bollards and black netting, ground preparations and new landscaping elements to match the amphitheater turf aesthetics. The council approved the expenditure as part of the consent agenda.
Next steps: Public works and the parks department will coordinate installation scheduling and notify facility users of temporary closures as required.
