Township exempts farmland-preservation parcels from stormwater utility fees, board says

At the July meeting, Chair Michael Blank reported that after appeals and outreach the township decided the farmland-preservation organization’s parcels will be exempt from the stormwater utility fees.
"Through Colin talking to David Kratzer and myself sending a note recently, the township decided that we were exempt, so that none of our properties will have to pay any of this," Blank said. The board had appealed bills that were sent to the organization because of an address mix-up and successfully resolved those appeals.
Members welcomed the decision and agreed it makes sense given the organization’s farmland holdings. No further action was required at the meeting; board members said they would continue to monitor communications from the Farm Service Agency and township if additional administrative matters arise.
