Building and grounds concerns and road-department business dominated part of the June 16 session as the board weighed equipment options and staffing needs.
Joe Contreras, Buildings & Grounds, presented three quotes for a new mower from AKRS, EXMARK and Sandhills Equipment. Chairman Wade Hollenbeck asked Contreras to seek a trade-in value from Sandhills; the commissioners tabled the purchase decision pending that information.
The Road Department recorded a personnel action: Glen May was hired as a part-time employee at $20.00 per hour. Road Superintendent Elizabeth Yost reviewed the road budget and told the board she will complete employee evaluations as soon as possible so the county can determine merit raises for road employees. The minutes note the department is still seeking a full-time hire.
Weed Superintendent Scott Erthum left a report updating the board on CWDG grant activity and weed spraying; the report was received by the commissioners. Discussion of road mowing and SRT was deferred to the next meeting because the County Attorney was not present.
No final equipment purchase was approved at this meeting; the mower quotes were tabled pending trade-in information and further review at a later meeting.
