Rock County approves $36,640 aerial imagery contract, HVAC maintenance and routine claims

Wade Hollenbeck, chairman of the Rock County Board of Commissioners, presided over the June 1 meeting in Bassett where the board approved a contract with Cornerstone Mapping for $36,640 to acquire new aerial imagery and authorized county HVAC maintenance and routine claims.
The board approved the aerial imagery contract following comments from Assessor TJ Ellermeier, who said the county "has not had photos since 2022" and that the vendor will allow the county to spread payment over two budget years. Commissioners also approved authorizing NACO to print joint public hearing postcards if needed.
By a separate motion, the board accepted a Rasmussen HVAC maintenance quote; the motion in the minutes records the amount as $3,911 and passed unanimously. The claims audit later lists a Rasmussen HVAC maintenance charge of $2,475 among paid vendor amounts; the minutes record the $3,911 quote as the motioned amount while the audited claim shows a different paid amount in the claims list.
Clerk Daunitta Buoy reported two coding errors on claims and the board approved journal entries to move $1,370.28 from Colonial to Retirement and $3,924.54 from Workmen’s Compensation to Blue Cross Blue Shield to correct the accounting. The board then approved the May 22 (missed payroll and payroll claims) and June 1 claims by unanimous roll call.
The commissioners also reviewed routine meeting business—approving the agenda and May 19 minutes by unanimous votes—and noted a letter from the Nebraska Tax Equalization and Review Commission stating there are no adjustments to subclass real property values in Rock County for tax year 2026.
The board adjourned at noon. The next scheduled discussion for volunteers to serve on the Central Nebraska Joint Housing Authority board was tabled to the June 29 meeting.
