The Palo City Council took several procedural and procurement actions at its July 6 meeting.
The council unanimously approved Resolution 070626B to enter a joint-funding agreement with the United States Geological Survey to operate and maintain a stream gage on the Cedar River, which council members said provides important data for flood forecasts. The motion was made by Councilmember Doug Hanover and seconded by Councilmember Taylor Burgin; the vote was 5-0.
Council also approved Resolution 070626C to correct fund transfers previously approved through resolutions 061526D and 061526F (motion: Jen Welton; second: Eric Van Kerckhove; vote: 5-0). Separately, the council authorized purchase of a portable gas-powered pressure washer from Hotsy for $14,550 (motion: Eric Van Kerckhove; second: Doug Hanover; vote: 5-0).
The council postponed action on Resolution 070626A, the exterior maintenance proposal with Mount Vernon Construction, and asked staff to obtain a new, itemized quote that specifies hours and labor costs (motion to postpone: Eric Van Kerckhove; second: Doug Hanover; vote: 5-0).
An agenda request from Brogan proposed a street dance as part of Palo Fun Days; the council discussed possibly trying the event late this summer and coordinating with West Linn next year. During general audience comments, Resident Zeller asked about pressure-washer and building-maintenance quotes, Mason discussed past ambulance service, Gates asked about a pause in ordinance readings, and Dochterman suggested another company for building maintenance.
The meeting adjourned at 7:23 p.m. on a motion by Doug Hanover, seconded by Eric Van Kerckhove, recorded 5 Yeas, 0 Nay.
