City council approves consent agenda, multiple ordinances and pay-schedule changes in unanimous votes

Chair Weber opened the meeting by calling the clerk to the agenda and the council moved through the consent items. Items on the consent agenda included construction engineering agreements with Alfred Benesch & Company for the 70th & Nebraska Parkway turn-lane improvement and supplemental engineering work for 8th Street, environmental services for the Rock Island Trail undercrossing, and a business license for 2.1 O's LLC (doing business as Goats Table). All consent motions passed on unanimous roll calls.
Council also approved the reappointment of the city attorney to a two-year term effective July 21, 2026. Several payroll and pay-schedule amendments for various employee groups and multiple changes of zone and annexation ordinances appeared on third reading; the council approved those ordinances and pay-schedule changes with roll-call support and a series of voice votes, typically recorded as 6-0.
Among non-routine items addressed on the consent calendar were acceptance of the city's investment activity report and distribution of short-term interest earnings for the month ending May 31, 2026; those financial items also passed unanimously.
The council adjourned after taking the scheduled votes. There were no tied or failed motions recorded on the July 20 agenda.
