Board approves MCWIF projects and flags August reimbursement deadline for harbor work

Staff said the projects are eligible for reimbursement under the MCWIF program, which covers 50% of eligible costs; the board was told that the state will stop reimbursing through the program after Aug. 31, making timely bid advertisement and construction critical. A staff member said the schedule is tight but feasible, and board members urged eliminating delays at the local level so contracts can be executed and work completed before the deadline.
The board voted to approve the listed projects and authorized staff to proceed with design and bidding. Members emphasized that if construction problems or other delays occur and the work misses the reimbursement cutoff, the city would be responsible for 100% of costs on outstanding items.
Separately, engineering reported the harbor electrical platform design is nearing readiness for bid but the city has not yet received confirmation of the grant award that would pay for the platform; no action was taken on that item pending funding notification.
