Mayor and board members discussed that structures placed on easements—even removable carports—can lead to future disputes when properties change hands. The city attorney said the board had already taken action at the meeting; citizens were told they may request reconsideration on a future agenda if they seek another review.
The board carried the motion to overturn the variance by voice vote. After the vote, members advised the resident who objected to the decision that he could ask the city clerk to place reconsideration on a future agenda and that the planning process could be revisited.
The board’s decision stands pending any formal request for reconsideration; officials said they would inspect affected properties if the item is returned to the agenda.
