The Laurel School District Board of Education approved a series of routine agenda items by roll call vote, including fundraisers, facility rental requests, a student trip and multiple personnel recommendations.
Motions approved included grouped fundraiser requests; rental and use requests for school facilities (North Law Early Learning Academy cafeteria and gym, Laurel High School auditorium for a dance competition scheduled for Feb. 2027, and New Zion United Methodist Church events for Project Rise programming); a parking-use arrangement for July 4 activities with local police coverage; and approval of a professional trip for an academy adviser and four students to the Educators Rising National Convention in Portland, Oregon (June 19to June 23, 2026), funded by student families and fundraising.
Following executive session, the board approved personnel attachments A (professional), B (support staff), C (cafeteria) and D (coaches) as listed in meeting materials. Chairs moved, seconded and enacted the recommendations by roll call.
The board also noted an administrative calendar change: the 2026—27 graduation date moved from June 3, 2027 to May 27, 2027. The reorganization meeting is scheduled for July 1, 2026 at 5:30 p.m., and the next regular meeting is set for Aug. 12 at 7 p.m.
