Parade and Night Out planning: Tree Allies to reuse supplies, buy extra trees and staff an August event

Tree Allies volunteer committees are preparing for two summer events: the town parade and Night Out at Lion's Club Park.
Mallory Abel said the Parade Committee met June 19 and decided to reuse leftover supplies from last year and to purchase extra small trees for the float; Sarah Gray will supply stumps for decoration and mulch will be added to raise smaller trees' height. The committee discussed pricing for giveaways (Linda suggested coozies) and possible use of the tree-sale form for a festival table. The committee set its next meeting for Sunday, July 12 at the Boyles' residence.
Separately, after adjournment members discussed Night Out at Lion's Club Park. The group recorded the event date as August 4, 2026, with a 6 p.m. start. Larry Beiter and Bernie Denning will bring tables; Bernie will also provide a pop-up tent and printed newsletter inserts for handouts. The town council declined a bounce house citing liability concerns and prior experiences with broken toys and tools. Participants were asked to arrive 30 to 45 minutes before 6 p.m. to set up.
These event plans will draw on remaining budget and volunteer time; the committee will confirm final giveaway pricing and any additional tree purchases before the parade.
