Tree Allies approve June minutes, review maintenance plans and budget

The Tree Allies approved the June meeting minutes and reviewed operations and event planning at their July meeting.

Chris Boyle moved to approve the June minutes and Sarah Gray seconded; "the motion was approved by the group," the minutes record. Members present included Larry Beiter, Mike Beam, Sarah Gray, Linda Straub, Bernie Denning, Mallory Abel, Heidi Boyle and Chris Boyle.

The group discussed maintenance and budget items: Larry reported $85 spent on tree fencing and $400 on trees for the cemetery, with $550 remaining in the annual budget plus $240 from tree sales. Bernie described a new watering system mounted on the gator and said trees will need water on Thursday; Heidi Boyle said the hose reaches the trees without buckets and Linda Straub noted potted trees need watering every other day. Nancy Baxter (via the town council) and Holly Henderson offered to help with watering.

Mallory Abel said the Tree Allies newsletter is finished and is at the printer, with a winter edition planned. Mike Beam said he would handle membership reappointments at the next Town Council meeting and that he would review the bylaws to clarify term lengths; Mallory indicated she may change positions.

Larry raised tree trimming at Miller Park and said a follow-up conversation about Tim Lambard's upcoming absence will be scheduled. Mallory also introduced the idea of tree-dedication nominations and plaque ideas; members discussed establishing a standard nomination format and Larry volunteered to draft a rough plan.

Larry moved to adjourn, Chris Boyle seconded, and "the entire group agreed to end the meeting at 7:00 pm," the record shows.
