Oram told the board the previously installed beaver deceivers were no longer effective because beavers had quickly dammed the fence. He said Coastal Railroad permission was required to access the track and that he had authorized trapping under state regulations using Connibear or box-cage traps to address an urgent safety concern. Co-Chair Julie Dreyfus and Vice-Chair Steven Constantine supported ratifying the agent's action, and the board approved the ratification 3-0.
The action authorizes short-term removal consistent with state wildlife rules and was framed by the board as a public-safety measure tied to flood pressure and erosion near railroad infrastructure. There were no public objections recorded in the minutes.
