Council authorizes contract to inspect Maywood School building if city pursues acquisition

Council members considered a resolution to authorize contracting for facility inspection services to evaluate the Maywood School building should the city decide to pursue acquisition.
Greg said the contracted inspection would evaluate the physical structure and help the city estimate future operating costs; the work would involve coordinating with Director Anderson and reviewing plans and maintenance records if available. Greg said the August 31 deadline for providing documentation was a placeholder taken from a request by the school district and can be extended if the council prefers. "If the city is going to express any interest in potentially acquiring the Maywood School property, we would need to do some sort of formal analysis on the structures," Greg said.
Mayor Nancy Moore asked whether maintenance records and other school documentation would be useful to consultants; Greg and Director Jake said those records would aid a structural review. A motion to approve authorizing the inspection contract and related letter of intent was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote.
