Boone County Commissioners approve bridge-inspection contracts, technology upgrades and routine procurements

Boone County commissioners approved a slate of routine contracts and service requests at their July 20 meeting, including two bridge-inspection task orders and several technology and service agreements.
Boone County Highway presented two task orders for construction inspection: Bridge 285 (part-time inspection during construction; not to exceed $110,000) and Bridge 229 (inspection work not to exceed $137,000). Commissioners approved both task orders by roll-call vote.
The Sheriff’s Office requested a five-year addendum to a WSI Technology contract to add recording to desk phones; the county confirmed payment will be made on a yearly basis and approved the addendum. The commission also approved a change order for the Connie Lamar AV/video-conferencing system that adds hardware to enable four cameras for improved picture-in-picture and remote-participant display; IT staff said the change addresses prior audio and camera limitations.
The commission opened a single bid for a modular office trailer (Boone Power, $20,010) and voted to take that bid under advisement. The consent agenda — including a Bain Walker equipment purchase (approximately $29,000 from the highway equipment fund) — was approved by roll call. Commissioners also accepted a $249,200 maintenance bond for Beckman Park Southeast Section 1 and a $132,741 performance bond for the Brittany Burke tile-reconstruction project.
Why it matters: The bridge inspections fund construction oversight for two structures slated for repair or replacement; technology and service approvals aim to improve public meeting broadcasts and sheriff’s office call recording.
