The Dothan City Commission used part of its July 21 meeting to honor local youth sports and city staff.
Mayor Mark Lieberman read certificates recognizing the Dothan National League 9U All‑Star team (head coach Will Parker), the 11U All‑Star team (head coach Walt Ellis) and the Dothan American League 12U All‑Star team (head coach Duffy Battles) for performances at the Diamond Youth Baseball state tournaments and for advancing to DYB World Series play. Coach Walt Ellis told the commission the 11U team had a "strong showing" and thanked the community: "So so appreciative of these kids, their parents and all the support from the community in Dothan National." (Walt Ellis)
City manager Randy Morris recognized Reginald "Reggie" Franklin of the planning department as July 2026 employee of the month for his work on transportation planning, the city's bicycle and pedestrian plans, redistricting maps and GIS support. Reggie, a department staffer since June 2013, thanked colleagues and said he is grateful for the opportunity to serve the community.
The commission also presented a retirement certificate to Paulette A. Davis, honoring her 26 years, one month and 16 days of service to the city; colleagues and the mayor offered remarks thanking her for long service.
These recognitions were presented as part of the commission's communications and were followed by routine agenda business.
