Bedford County Rose Committee approves routine agenda items, hears veterans and clinic reports

Committee members approved placing minutes from the June 30, 2026 special-called meeting and the July 14, 2026 commission minutes on the August 11, 2026 county commission agenda after motions and voice votes. Chair read a request from County Clerk Donna Thomas to place notary applicants on the August 11 agenda, and the committee approved that placement as well.
The committee received a veterans services report submitted by Director Ealy noting that 69 veterans visited the office in June and 69 were transported to VA hospitals; the committee moved to approve that report. The June community clinic summary was presented for information: doctors logged 90 medical visits and dental staff logged 93 dental visits in June.
Committee members also discussed upcoming elections and internal committee assignments. Members were reminded to contact Commissioner Fair with requests for committee placements so the rules committee can vet them ahead of the September commission meeting. Chair recognized several commissioners who are not seeking re-election or are retiring, including long-serving members mentioned in the transcript, and thanked them for their service to Bedford County.
