CurlFest returns to Randall's Island July 25; organizers call it 'bigger than hair'

"It's so much bigger than hair," Higgins told BronxNet, describing CurlFest as a space for Black joy, culture and connection that includes vendors, beauty brands, performances and community programming.
Higgins said the 2026 CurlFest is scheduled for July 25 on Randall's Island and organizers expect thousands of attendees. She listed expected features such as brand pop-ups, a coveted gift bag, entertainment, small-business vendors and family-friendly activities.
The cofounder described ongoing outreach and smaller initiatives throughout the year and encouraged viewers to join CurlFest's mailing list and visit curlfest.com for details and tickets.
For people who have not attended before, Higgins said CurlFest aims to create community spaces where attendees feel seen and can find new products and vendors that often start as small businesses.
