Commissioners discussed visibility from the street, removability for potential future restoration and compatibility with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation, especially Standards 9 and 10, which address new additions and differentiation of new materials. Commissioner James moved to approve the application as complying with Standards 9 and 10; the motion carried on roll call with four votes in favor and one opposed.
Staff reminded the applicants that a building permit is required before work begins and said staff will follow up with permit-review instructions. The commission's approval is subject to standard permitting and inspection requirements.
