Centre County Salary Board approves personnel changes, appoints deputy sheriff

The Centre County Salary Board approved a series of personnel actions at a brief meeting June 11, 2026, at the Willowbank Office Building in Bellefonte.
Chair Mark Higgins convened the meeting at 10:00 a.m. and recorded attendees including Commissioners Amber Concepcion and Steven Dershem, Deputy Administrator Natalie Corman and Controller Jason Moser. No members of the public offered comment.
Kristen Simkins, District Attorney, asked the board to approve a change in budgeted hours for full‑time District Attorney law clerks from 75 to 80 hours, effective June 11, 2026 (pay period 13). The minutes list the salary budget impact as $2,687 for 2026 and $5,375 annualized for 2027. On a motion by Controller Jason Moser, seconded by Commissioner Amber Concepcion, the board voted unanimously to approve the change.
Sheriff Bryan Sampsel requested approval to appoint Christopher B. Hench to a full‑time Deputy Sheriff/Security position (p.c. #21130) at SG‑07A(01) with a rate of $21.51 per hour, effective June 15, 2026 (pay period 14). On a motion by Sheriff Sampsel, seconded by Controller Jason Moser, the board voted unanimously to approve the appointment.
Chad Joyce of Information Technology Services asked the board to change the employment classification for the Senior Network/Systems Administrator (p.c. #14207) from nonexempt to exempt, effective June 11, 2026 (pay period 13). Controller Jason Moser moved and Commissioner Amber Concepcion seconded the motion; the board voted unanimously to approve the reclassification.
Earlier in the meeting Controller Jason Moser moved, and Commissioner Amber Concepcion seconded, approval of the Salary Board minutes from May 28, 2026; the board voted unanimously to approve those minutes. The board adjourned at 10:04 a.m. on a motion by Controller Moser, seconded by Commissioner Concepcion.
