Guilderland approves lighting repairs, park upgrades and a bids request for park lights

The board voted to amend the 2026 budget to appropriate $14,634.21 from the McKownville Lighting District fund balance (SL1909) to the district's Equipment & Capital Outlay line (SL15182.2) to replace underground lighting infrastructure on Westlyn Court after National Grid identified unsafe conditions. The minutes state the drawdown represents about 15% of the Lighting District's available fund balance; the motion (Motion #125) passed by roll call.
Supervisor Peter Barber said the board also authorized issuing a request for bids to install new lights for a girls' softball field at Keenholts Park; the lights are funded by a grant of approximately $183,000 (Motion #126). The board approved the action by roll call vote.
Separately, the board approved use of an amount not to exceed $45,000 from the Parkland Assessment Fund (CM) for park improvements at Nott Road Park and Tawasentha Park, including finishing touches at the Nott Road playground (small parking area, crosswalk patching, fencing), grant-funded work at the pickleball court, and a wheelchair lift at Tawasentha Park playground (Motion #127). The motion passed by roll call.
