Acting Town Manager John Sousa told the Select Board that the Massachusetts School Building Authority has voted to invite the Town to proceed into schematic design to replace the Colonel Moses Parker Middle School with a new facility serving grades 4 through 6 on the existing site.
The notice from the MSBA and the work plan required for the next phase are on file with the Town Manager’s office. The board was told that a special Town Meeting will need to be scheduled to move the project forward and that stakeholders and the Select Board will discuss scheduling and next steps at the regular board meeting on August 10, 2026.
The board did not take a separate vote on funding at the June 29 meeting; the item is positioned to return for further discussion and any required Town Meeting actions.
