The City of Soda Springs City Council on July 1 approved $104,630 to replace the fence around the city shop and the electrical substation. Director Jeff Young presented competing quotes and described the existing fence as old and poorly maintained; Councilman Ryan Carpenter moved to approve the expenditure and Councilman Daniel Larsen seconded. The motion carried with the council voting in favor.
Councilwoman Paige Byram asked that neighbors be informed ahead of construction to address any concerns. The council recorded the decision as a budgeted capital expenditure and directed staff to proceed with scheduling and neighbor notification.
The fence approval was one of several capital and contract items the council handled at the meeting.
