County schedules first and second readings for comp-plan amendment and RR5 rezoning

Community Development staff (Tim) presented an ordinance that would amend the comprehensive plan designation from "farm" to "residential" and change the zoning from "farm resource" to rural residential (RR5). He asked the board to schedule the first reading for Aug. 19 and the second reading for Sept. 2 to finalize the change.
Tim said the county approved the related zone changes in April but that state notice and an appeals window still apply. He told commissioners the typical appeal period is 21 days after state filing and that staff coordinates timing with the county legal office to confirm whether any appeals have been filed.
Commissioners discussed timing and past approvals; one commissioner noted the multi‑month gap between the April decision and the current scheduling. Without objection, the board agreed to place the first reading on the Aug. 19 agenda and the second reading on Sept. 2.
The county did not record additional conditions on the readings during the workshop. Staff will file required state notices and follow the 21‑day appeal window before the readings proceed.
