Residents raise driveway and elevation concerns at Smokey Timbers Road assessment hearing; engineers to meet property owners

Clerk Tom Blank called the Smokey Timbers Road assessment hearing to order at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 2 and presented a handout with final project costs and assessable computations. Blank said the assessment is a five-year installment with a 6.55% interest rate and that payoffs made at the hearing would prevent the charge from appearing on future tax statements.
Several property owners told the board that the change in road elevation following paving altered the angle of approach to their driveways and created a more severe drop-off from the road into the ditch. Engineer Jeff Stabnow, P.E., was present to answer technical questions. According to the minutes, Supervisors Gary "Andy" Anderson and Matt Kugler agreed to meet with concerned property owners the following day to review the driveway and elevation issues.
The hearing record notes that several assessments had been paid in full; Tom Blank thanked attendees and adjourned the hearing at 6:51 p.m.
