Council holds first reading of Ordinance 877 to update vehicle and traffic code; no vote taken

Mayor Luke Dillon opened a public hearing Sept. 2 on Ordinance 877, a first reading that would amend Myrtle Creek Municipal Code Title 10 (Vehicles and Traffic) and repeal several prior ordinances.
City Recorder Joanna Bilbrey presented the proposed code markup. No members of the public spoke in favor of the amendments. Councilor Rick Held said the draft added definitions already referenced in the Oregon Vehicle Code and flagged two differing descriptions of the Central Business District in the proposed text. Councilor Robert Chaney Sr. suggested reconvening the Code Review Board to reconcile edits; Bilbrey asked Councilor Held to attend the review to offer his suggestions.
The public hearing closed at 7:08 p.m. The council did not take a vote on Ordinance 877; staff will review Chapter 10 edits and return them to a future meeting.
