Miltona Township board accepts minutes, treasurer's report and bills; sets 2025 meeting schedule

Supervisor Gary "Andy" Anderson called Miltona Township's regular meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Miltona Community Center. The board approved the November minutes on a motion by Supervisor Matt Kugler, seconded by Andy Anderson, and accepted the treasurer's report, which showed checking of $300,641.36, a money-market balance of $1,002.55 and an Intrafi account of $279,659.96 for total funds of $581,303.87. The board then approved bills totaling $54,835.88; motions carried 2-0 as recorded in the minutes.
The meeting review of old business recapped two assessment hearings held earlier that evening. Clerk Tom Blank reported that the Miltona Bay Road hearing produced multiple payoff payments and that several attendees at the Smokey Timbers Road hearing raised concerns about the new pavement's elevation, driveway approach angles and increased drop-offs. Engineer Jeff Stabnow, P.E., attended both hearings to answer technical questions. "Jeff answered questions on edging and surface runoff," the minutes state.
Board members also reported progress on a partial-road vacation, which the board plans to file with the recorder's office for final processing, and discussed online payment logistics through First Western Bank. Tom Blank said documentation of the online transactions will be available at the board's January meeting.
Tom Blank said a petition concerning Chicago Club Road/Lane revealed a misidentified sign; the township will order a replacement and re-run the petition covering addresses from 13150 to 13274 Chicago Club Lane NE. The board reviewed a proposed 2025 calendar and discussed moving regular meetings to the second Monday of each month beginning in January; because of scheduling conflicts, the February meeting is proposed for Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025. The next regular meeting is set for Monday, Jan. 13, 2025, at 7:00 p.m.
During the public floor, resident Dale Wilke asked the board to examine water buildup west of a new culvert that threatens a neighboring field; board members discussed possible tiling near the four-corners intersection. Clerk Blank thanked Gary "Andy" Anderson for his service filling in for another supervisor and for his prior years of service to the township. With no further business, a motion by Andy Anderson and seconded by Matt Kugler to adjourn carried 2-0 at 7:28 p.m.
The minutes do not record separate roll-call vote names beyond the 2-0 motions; the minutes list those present and note guest attendance.
