Myrtle Creek council approves revised March flood-damage list and minutes

City Administrator Pro Tem Zach Potter presented an updated list of flood-related costs and asked whether the council wanted the entire Lenorland project included or only sinkhole repairs. Potter said repairs to the sinkhole had been completed to make the yard safe and that a rotting pipe and erosion contributed to the damage. He recommended keeping Lenorland on the damage list with $393,460 for the stormwater line and an estimated additional $270,000 to repair a sewer line damaged by the flood.
Councilor Diana Larson moved to approve the revised list of March 2025 flood damages; Councilor Robert Chaney Sr. seconded. The council then voted YES: Chaney, Larson, Wragg and Held, and the motion passed unanimously. The meeting earlier approved the consent agenda—minutes for Aug. 19 and Aug. 28—on a motion by Larson that passed unanimously.
Why it matters: the certified list of damages is the basis for FEMA review and potential reimbursement or project prioritization. Including the Lenorland stormwater and sewer repairs increases the city’s estimated recovery request and will affect project scoping if federal or state funding is awarded.
