Richford Selectboard approves $1,000 for Harvest Festival, discusses library renovations and parking

The Town of Richford Selectboard on Sept. 15 approved a $1,000 contribution to the town’s Harvest Festival and discussed a series of routine municipal matters, including library renovations, upcoming paving and concerns about parking on River Street.
Selectwoman Sherry Paquette moved to approve the $1,000 request from Richford Recreation; Selectwoman Kristin Sheperd seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Town Administrator Marissa Tessier confirmed that the donation was authorized at the meeting and will be recorded in the town’s accounts.
The board was updated on continuing renovations at the library. Tessier said the town used a revolving loan to pay three vendors and is working on grant reimbursement; the town expects to repay the loan within roughly 30 days once grant funds are received. Paving from the church on Main Street to the Dollar General is scheduled for the week of Oct. 6.
The Planning Commission has asked to schedule a joint meeting with the Selectboard while it finalizes the Town Plan update; no date was set at the Sept. 15 meeting. Board members also discussed ongoing efforts to evaluate policing options; the Selectboard said it is still exploring alternatives and did not reach a decision.
Residents’ concerns about parking on River Street were raised during the meeting. Tessier was asked to research approaches other towns use, including the feasibility of metered parking, and report back at a future meeting.
