The Roxbury Village School Committee on May 6 unanimously approved its initial officers as it organized to oversee reuse of the Roxbury Village School building. On a motion by Tom Frazier seconded by Judy Lusk, the committee approved all nominations, establishing Kristen Getler as chair, Heather Holter as vice-chair and Heidi Albright as secretary; the vote was 6-0-0.
The committee agreed by consensus to meet on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 6–8 p.m. to maintain timely reporting; members said they will post a short update to Tammy by the Friday before Selectboard meetings and designated Heather as the backup representative to attend Selectboard meetings when needed.
Members reviewed Open Meeting Law responsibilities and confirmed that several people identified in the Selectboard charge must complete ethics training before the committee moves forward. The committee also discussed building access and security: key cards were distributed, a box of mechanical keys will be sorted and labeled, and members noted re-keying indoor locks could be done by Lenny Davis for an estimated additional cost (outer doors were previously re-keyed at about $2,000). Kristen Getler agreed to serve as the committee spokesperson and manage the committee email account, with Heidi Albright and Heather Holter as backups.
The meeting packet and use of a timekeeper at future meetings were proposed to keep discussions focused as the group develops policies and a workplan for the building.
