Township raises drainage concerns over proposed 10-unit storage PUD; scraps Chicago Club Lane asphalt plan

Separately, the board discussed the Chicago Club Lane asphalt project and, citing preliminary cost estimates, moved to scrap the plans. Jerome Haggenmiller moved and Matt Kugler seconded the motion to stop the Chicago Club Lane asphalt project; the minutes record the motion as carried 3-0.
The board addressed surface work on Smokey Timbers Road: minutes state Mark Lee Asphalt does not perform black-dirt work, so the township will arrange black-dirt placement in some areas. Jerome Haggenmiller moved and Matt Kugler seconded that R & R finish the dirt work and seed the project; that motion is recorded as carried 3-0. Tom Blank and Haggenmiller will meet with Dave Rush to discuss ongoing drainage issues along Smokey Timbers Road.
During the floor (public comment) portion, residents asked the township to address drainage and washouts now that Chicago Club Lane asphalt is not proceeding. Two residents asked that the south end of East Lake Vermont not receive chloride; the minutes say chloride would otherwise be applied in front of houses along the road. The minutes also note Karl Wimmer was instructed in a township letter to install a culvert under his approach but was asked to hold off until a meeting with Tom Blank and Jerome Haggenmiller.
The board scheduled a public hearing on the Vermont Access Road for Saturday, June 14 at 9 a.m. at the Miltona Community Center; the motion to schedule the hearing was recorded as carried 3-0.
The minutes record these decisions and concerns but do not provide technical drainage mitigation plans, contractor scopes, or exact contract amounts for the R & R work; the PUD remains subject to further review.
